The Lakefront Airport has received enough money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to replace the James Wedell Hangar that was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina, according to an official who oversees the facility. FEMA awarded Lakefront Airport about $7.3 million from their public assistance grant to build a replacement facility for the James Wedell Hangar. It will be one of three NEW hangars the airport is planning on opening by the 2013 Super Bowl. Bidding for the Walter Wedell Hangar should begin in the next couple of weeks when money is allocated, said Louis Capo, executive director of the Non-Flood Protection Asset Management Authority.
